15.23.1 Updating instructions

If you have a multi-user copy of pc/MRP make sure everybody has logged off of
pc/MRP before starting this update.

Make a back-up copy of the current pc/MRP directory and its contents
- Go to the DOS prompt and enter the drive letter that pc/MRP is stored in
(assuming pc/MRPW is in drive c:) C: [Rtn]

Change to the pc/MRP for Windows directory by entering: CD\PCMRPW [Rtn]

Create a back up directory for your current copy of pc/MRP MD\PCMRPWBK [Rtn]

Make sure PCMRPWBK is empty then copy all of the files from pc/MRPW into PCMRPWBK
XCOPY C:\PCMRPW\*.* C:\PCMRPWBK /V [Rtn]

If you have a multi-user copy of pc/MRP unattribute the following files read/write by entering :
ATTRIB PCMRPW.EXE -R [Rtn]
ATTRIB CONFIG.FPW -R [Rtn]
ATTRIB MSG.DBF -R [Rtn]

Use Windows Explorer or File Manager to locate
the update file (e.g. UPD673Z.EXE) on the update floppy disk or in in the
download directory if delivered by the Internet. Double click on the
update file and enter the drive and directory where pc/MRP is located.
If you select browse to locate the drive and directory, make sure the
drive and directory displayed is the drive and directory where pc/MRP
exists. Clicking on Next and Finish will extract and copy files
from the update file into a subdirectory of the PCMRPW directory named
PCMRPUPD. It also copies a file named PCMRPUPD.EXE into the PCMRPW directory.

Go back to Windows Explorer or File Manager and locate the PCMRPUPD.EXE
file in the main pc/MRP directory (e.g. C:\PCMRPW\PCMRPUPD.EXE). Double
click on this file to begin the update process.

Enter your present version number for pc/MRP for Windows and click on continue

Enter the drive and directory where pc/MRP for Windows resides C:\PCMRPW

Enter the drive and directory where pc/MRP update files reside C:\PCMRPW\PCMRPUPD

Enter the drive and directory where your backup files reside C:\PCMRPWBK
-
The number of fields in the current dbf files and new dbf files will be displayed and
should match their respective comparison dbf files.

If the comparison files match their respective comparison files the new files will be
copied from the update directory to your PCMRPW directory.

The converted dbf files will be displayed, they should match the comparison dbf files
-
If the converted dbf files match, press any key to continue.

If you have a multi-user copy of pc/MRP for Windows you must return to the DOS
prompt and attribute the files listed below as read only:
ATTRIB PCMRPW.EXE +R [Rtn]
ATTRIB CONFIG.FPW +R [Rtn]
ATTRIB MSG.DBF +R [Rtn]
ATTRIB STARTMRP.EXE +R [Rtn]
ATTRIB FOXTOOLS.FLL +R [Rtn]

Click on the pc/MRP for Windows icon to run the new version of pc/MRP
